Independence Day Preparations

Remember my freshly scrubbed kitchen floor? (If not - please click here. It really was a beautiful thing to behold.) But, it isn't very realistic either. At least not for very long.

Here's the kitchen floor not too long ago:
And this...
Oh, I can see some of you shudder as you look at these images. But it is all very worth it. Just wait until you see what we created in preparation for our Independence Day festivities!

Oops, here was Anna getting creative with the sprinkles as she patiently waited for the frosting to be made. Yes, they all fell over and yes, that's how the above picture was created. Nothing a vacuum couldn't take care of thankfully. I couldn't believe she managed this creation all by herself. Never underestimate the creative power of a 3 year old left to her imagination.

To all of our fellow Americans - Happy Independence Day!
And to our Down Under friends - can't wait to celebrate with you next year!

um mm that 'arial view' ... was that taken by Mom on the counter?! :-) can hardly wait to taste the fruits of their labor! Oh, Kate, there is so much history! And bet you Aussie's have some sort of day that you celebrate a similar occasion.

I'm starting to salivate just looking at those cookies! Looks to me like the messy floor was well worth it!

Are you planning to be in Australia next year this time?

Mrs. E, perhaps the tradition of baking ANZAC Biscuits / Cookies on ANZAC Day would be the closest equivalent here.

Hi Papp Family - no, we're not coming to Australia next year, but you're invited to celebrate here with us and the Foote Family. So much fun!
