Oh, we were so happy to be staying and catching up with the G family! And yes, it probably was nice to talk some American things again, although, we sure were having fun soaking up the culture and scenery and people of Australia.
Interesting Australia fact: There are no flags on mailboxes in Australia. Why not? No need. Mail carriers only drop off mail in mailboxes. One needs to go to a postal station to drop off mail to be delivered. Now you know!
Our first full day in Brissy took us to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary on the Brisbane River just down the road from the G's. Sarah G (10) and Lucas G (6) accompanied us and were wonderful tour guides! We had so much fun seeing the animals we had studied this past semester in preparation for our travels Down Under.

Koala (NOT a bear, although, they are cute and cuddly like a teddy bear.) We even got to hold one! And, do they ever smell. Yuck! Unfortunately, it would have cost us $25 to get our picture taken cuddling the koala so you'll have to take our word for it.
And one even landed on my head. Please don't poop was all I could think as I told Ellen to take the picture QUICKLY!
Caleb and Logan petting an emu. What made this sanctuary so fantastic was how hands on you could get with the animals.
Rebekah wasn't so thrilled that they wanted to sniff her out in the stroller. Anna called every single animal she saw a, "doggie." Cute, but confused child. Don't tell anyone she's homeschooled.
Ellen was even chosen to take part in the birds of prey demonstration!
